Career Builders for Educators (CBE) &
Transition to Teaching (TTT)
Self-Evaluation
Welcome. This website is designed to help you understand the entrance requirements for both programs and to assist you in making a determination of the prerequisite coursework that may be needed for eligibility for acceptance into either of these programs.
The main differences between the CBE initial licensure program and the TTT program are:
- The student teaching model:
- The TTT requires multiple student teaching experiences, for a limited number of hours per week and a limited infringement on the time required for regular full time employment.
- The CBE student teaching model is an all day, every day, full semester requirement and it may not be possible to maintain regular full time employment outside of your student teaching experience.
- The entrance requirements:
- The TTT is mandated by the state and does not allow for provisional or probational acceptance. The GPA in each entrance category must be at least 3.0. One must be fully qualified prior to entrance in the TTT program.
- The CBE program follows the usual entrance requirements for graduate studies in education (cumulative GPA of at least 2.75 or probationary acceptance for a 2.5 GPA).
Basic entrance requirements for:
- TTT elementary licensure includes:
- Cumulative GPA (3.0) from all courses taken from all universities attended which applied to your bachelor’s degree
- Major GPA (3.0) from all courses taken in your major
- Content GPA (3.0) with the number of hours as specified. (Click here for more specifics on the entrance requirements.)
- CBE elementary licensure includes:
- Cumulative GPA (2.75) from the bachelor’s degree-granting institution with at least 30 hours were earned.
- Content GPA (3.0) with the number of hours as specified. (Click here for more specifics on the entrance requirements.)
- Secondary licensure
- TTT secondary licensure includes:
- Cumulative GPA (3.0) from all courses taken from all universities attended which applied to your bachelor’s degree
- Content GPA (3.0) with a minimum of 18 hours as specified. (Click here for more specifics on the entrance requirements.)
- CBE secondary licensure includes:
- Cumulative GPA (2.75) from the bachelor’s degree-granting institution with at least 30 hours were earned.
- Content GPA (3.0) with a minimum of 18 hours as specified. (Click here for more specifics on the entrance requirements.)
The following pages will walk you through your requirements based upon what area of licensure you request and the program for which you wish to qualify. If you desire CBE Additional licensure, you will also be able to choose that option on the following pages.
The end results will give you some insight into what kinds of courses may be required prior to admission. At this point you may choose to wait until you have completed most of the prerequisite coursework prior to making final application to either program.
