Student Teaching or Practicum Requirements

CBE Additional Licensure candidates will do an entire semester of Practicum experience in the area of their licensure at grade level during the final phase of the program. This is an 80 hour minimum practicum experience (5 hours per week) done during the entire semester.

CBE Initial Licensure candidates will do an entire semester of Student Teaching in the area of their licensure during the final phase of the program. This is a full-time (full day) student teaching experience done during the entire semester.

For Elementary TTT Licensure candidates, EDU 575 and EDU 579 require 17 weeks of student teaching at 5 hours per week. EDU 581 requires 15 weeks at 5 hours per week and two full weeks of all day experience. This is three semesters of student teaching. The candidate and cooperating teacher decide how the 5 hours will be met each week whether it is 5 days for 1 hour per day, 2 days for 2.5 hours per day, or 1 day for 5 hours.

For Secondary TTT Licensure candidates, EDU 575 requires 17 weeks of student teaching at 5 hours per week. EDU 579 will consist of 15 weeks at 5 hours per week and two full weeks of all day experience. This is two semesters of student teaching. The candidate and cooperating teacher decide how the 5 hours will be met each week whether it is 5 days for 1 hour day, 2 days for 2.5 hours per day, or 1 day for 5 hours. Candidates will have one student teaching experience at the Junior High/Middle School level and one student teaching experience at the High School level. The final student teaching experience should be the best fit for your licensure goal.

Additional Requirements

Résumé: Please submit a résumé with your application materials. The résumé must include undergraduate and graduate education and work experience.

Interview: An interview may be required by the school corporation before placement will be final.

Criminal History Report: An additional Exhaustive Criminal History Report may be required by some school corporations before placement will be final.
