OVERVIEW OF COURSE COMPONENTS

1. Design and Implement a personal technology growth plan (PTGP). Candidates will develop and carry out an individual strategic plan to improve the application of technology in the P-12 setting. ·Technology use can enhance the learning climate in a P-12 setting.· Candidates need to focus on carrying-out action steps aligned with the school improvement plan.   Analysis and summary of technology  growth progress. Paper summarizing action step progress of technology growth.
2. Design appropriate strategies to utilize   technology to foster active inquiry and collaborative and supportive interaction among P-12 students. Candidates will explore the strengths and weakness of the constructivist approach to teaching and apply it to technology integration. ·Technology enables us to provide students with a more engaged learning approach to teaching and learning. Design and analyze technology-based lesson plans for P-12 classroom application. Design and evaluate six Internet lesson plans.
3. Demonstrate the effective use of technology to develop alternative assessment strategies. Candidates will design and implement Internet lesson containing alternative assessment rubrics and guides. · Collaborative assignments that engage students often require authentic assessment.    Design and analyze technology-based lesson plans for P-12 classroom application that contain effective authentic assessment components. Design and evaluate six Internet lesson plans.
4. Generate techniques to utilize data for decision-making, in doing action research.  Candidates will generate data confirming or disproving the effectiveness of Internet lesson plans. · Action research helps educators make informed decisions related to Internet use.    Develop and analyze an action research plan to validate lesson plan effectiveness.  Design and use an action research plan to determine the effectiveness of an Internet lesson plan.
5. Demonstrate the effective use of technology to enhance classroom presentation & instruction. Candidates will develop and apply an Internet lesson to enhance classroom presentation. Teachers can effective present materials to a class through online activities and assignments.  Apply an Internet lesson to the classroom setting and affirm effectiveness. Design and evaluate six Internet lesson plans.
6. Demonstrate the effective use of educational Internet sites for teaching, applications in the learning processes, and student use in research including designing Tellacollaborative Projects, WebQuest,  and Research Module lesson plans. Candidates will design lessons that provide a more authentic assessment by designing  Research Modules, Web Quest, and Tellecollaborative Lessons. The Internet has numerous sites that contain already developed lesson that cause students to employ higher level thinking skills and through the use of the World Wide Web.  Design and implementation of a Research Module, Web Quest or Tellecollaborative lessons.  Assess a designed lesson and then create one to fit personal needs in the classroom.
7. Demonstrate the effective use of  instructional software in a P-12 school setting. Candidates will evaluate and differentiate key components of effective use of instructional software. Software applications that provide higher level thinking skills and direct students to meet individual needs are more effective in helping students learn. Evaluation of lesson plan design and application of software enriched lesson plan.  Develop a lesson that utilizes effective software application.
8. Devise appropriate uses of technology through multimedia, hypermedia, and telecommunications to enhance collaboration and problem solving. Candidates will examine the use of multimedia, hypermedia, and telecommunications teaching projects for possible use in their classroom.   Multimedia and hypermedia can greatly enhance classroom organizations and presentations.     Analysis of hyper linked lesson plan.  Six Internet lesson plans that utilize multimedia and hypermedia.
9. Utilize a needs assessment of personal and district technology competencies to act as a change agent to move technology forward at the individual and district level. Candidates will implement a  strategic plan to improve personal technology efficiency.  Steady progress of technology growth enhances P-12 learning exponentially. Final paper. Prepare a paper describing success in moving technology forward in the school environment.
