Greetings from the Director

We welcome you to the Indiana Wesleyan University Master of Education program. We offer a practitioner driven continuing education opportunity for experienced classroom teachers. Over 4,000 teachers in the last few years have found this program very beneficial in their quest to become competent, caring professionals.

Candidates can complete their graduate studies in an accessible, convenient, and practical series of nine carefully sequenced courses, along with one independent study practicum. The thirty hours of required courses and six hours of electives enable candidates to apply their learning in worthwhile school-based curriculum and instruction projects.

Candidates master knowledge, dispositions, and skills in a covenantal community of cohort learners. The conceptual framework is "The Teacher As Agent of Change," enabling candidates to be reflective practitioners, action researchers, and more responsive classroom teachers.

During the course of studies, candidates complete a Showcase Teaching Unit in the three curriculum and instruction sequence of courses. The culminating project is an Applied Masters Project documenting the candidate's professional growth as an 'Agent of Change. Our educational approach typifies an adult learning style for experienced teachers. Good luck on your quest.
