Faculty & Staff
Indiana Wesleyan University is a community of scholars whose purpose is to create a Christ-centered educational climate where students are equipped to be world-changers through life-long learning and service. The Transition to Teaching program's primary purpose is to prepare highly qualified teachers for the elementary and secondary levels of public and private education. Within the framework of a Christian system of values, the department stresses excellence in performance and the integration of faith and learning. Your instructors are teachers with years of experience in the classroom and have current examples of how these teaching principles work.
We realize students need professional advice at each step in their education, from the first day to determine if they qualify to enroll and what they need to do to complete the TTT program, to help with completing their portfolio project at the end of their course work. IWU has knowledgeable men and women who will help students successfully work through each step of the Transition to Teaching program.
- For more information regarding the TTT program and application process, please contact a Program Representative at 866-IWU-4-YOU or aes@indwes.edu.
- The Academic Advisor will assess student’s work experiences and college transcripts to determine if additional courses should be taken to gain the knowledge required to teach in that discipline. Your academic advisor is also able to help you in additional areas, such as: registering for Praxis I and II exams, giving academic advice as you move through your program, and guiding you through the licensure process. To speak to this advisor call 800-621-8667, ext. 2786, or 765-677-2786, or e-mail the TTT Academic Advisor.
- The Instructor Advisor will work with each student as he or she moves through the Transition to Teaching coursework providing advice on the student's portfolio and giving the student personal feedback of his or her field experience performance. The instructor who oversees the student's two field experience courses is the instructor advisor. To determine who your instructor advisor is call 800-621-8667, ext. 2786, or 765-677-2786, or e-mail the TTT Academic Advisor.
- The Placement Coordinator will work with each student to find appropriate schools in which to do the various field experiences. To speak to the placement coordinator call 800-621-8667, ext 2857, or 765- 677-2857, or e-mail the TTT Placement Coordinator.
- Licensing Advisor. This advisor is familiar with the licensing process for Indiana. To transfer an Indiana Teaching License to reciprocating states you will need to contact your state’s Department of Education. You may contact the IWU Licensing Advisor at 800-621-8667, ext. 2786 or terry.dieckmann@indwes.edu.
