Field Experience Placement Information

Each student will be placed in a school classroom for a total of 5 hours per week for each week of EDU 575 (15 weeks). The student and the Supervising Teacher decide how the 5 hours will be met each week: 5 days for 1 hour per day, 2 days for 2.5 hours per day, or 1 day for 5 hours. Please list your preference.

Additional Requirements

Resume
Include a copy of your resume with submission of application materials. The resume must include work experience, undergraduate and graduate education.

Interview
An interview may be required by the School Corporation before placement will be final.

Pre-service Teacher Expectations

The Pre-service teacher will:

  1. Be punctual in reporting for all duties including daily arrival, professional meeting, and submission of unit and lesson plans
  2. Follow all policies/procedures of the Cooperating School as outlined in the individual school handbook.
  3. Observe the chain of command.
  4. Always be adequately prepared with assignments.
  5. Establish a positive working rapport with the Mentor Teacher.
  6. Invite constructive observations from the Mentor Teacher.
  7. Demonstrate enthusiasm in the preparation and presentation of each lesson.
  8. Dress appropriately for the position of teacher according to the individual school standards.
  9. Be courteous to all students, respecting student rights and priviledges.
