During your time at IWU you will be required to take two exams for the State of Indiana - the Praxis I and Praxis II exams. These exams measure your knowledge of the particular subject matter you want to teach. Transition to Teaching courses do not teach you subject content, they teach you how to teach. It is your responsibility to know the subject you intend to teach.
To help you determine in advance if your mastery of the subject matter is sufficient for teaching, one of IWU's academic counselors will assess your college transcript, work experience and life experience before you start your first Transition to Teaching course. They will recommend what courses you could take to prepare you for the two Praxis exams. These courses can be taken at IWU or the college of your choice. These courses are not required to complete the program but may be required for entrance into the TTT program.
