Ways in which this class incorporates world changer ideas:

One of the key ideas to get across in helping students learn about strategy formation is the importance of having a clear vision of what they want the future to be for their organization. To the concept of vision I add the necessity of defining a set of values which will guide their vision. By values I mean a set of basic principles or core characteristics that set parameters for personal and business behavior. Joel Barker says that values determine the "rightness" of the vision. Using an illustration from my own experience in business and referring to the results documented by Collins and Poros in "Built to Last", I emphasize the

importance of defining a set of values that will serve as a guide when circumstances require actions that don't fit the "corporate handbook".
