Ways in which this class incorporates world changer ideas:

In this class I talk about the importance of Information and communication. For nursing students they know their patient's names, what and how to do things, they enter the data into the hospital systems, but do they know all of the people they see day in and day out. A smile is one form of information, greeting someone by name in another form of information. Information and communication are how we are going to change the world.

I tell them about a nursing instructor that gave a quiz with one question on the quiz asking - What is the name of the front desk support person?  Most people did not have the correct answer. When asked what the question had to do with the course, the answer was:  This information is just as important in the learning process as the information in the book.

I will often ask if they know who is responsible for the room, even if it is a hotel.  Most students do not know this, but each time they meet for the IWU class, they are all setting an example that reflects on the Universities mission, Christ-centered academic community committed to changing the world.  The students found at break the name of the front desk person who faithfully greeted them each class time. The response back was, "You students make it worth coming into work."  World changers!!!
