About the Program
As an adult student, the university believes your wealth of real-life experiences bring alive the theories found in textbooks. Experience is a tremendous teacher. When a group of adults with varied backgrounds, travels, and work experiences gather in the online classroom, the accumulated knowledge and wisdom is truly overwhelming. At IWU our faculty have been carefully selected to act as your guide and mentor. These "faculty facilitators" are working professionals who, like you, bring to the class experiences from workplaces around the country.
No matter if you have some college credits or have a degree from somewhere else the BSM program is designed to help you "finish" your bachelor’s degree in management in a timely manner. The BSM 40-hour core program is offered completely online allowing you more freedom with your family, work, and community responsibilities. Students may transfer regionally accredited coursework to apply toward the degree program. After the completion of the 20-month and 40-hour core if there are additional courses needed to graduate credit may be earned through online electives, the Portfolio for Prior Learning (PPL), military experiences, CLEP exams, and Correspondences and Independent Studies.
Courses last from four (4) to six (6) weeks with the entire program taking about 20 months to complete. Each course is composed of weeklong "workshops" each of which is comprised of several "tutorials." Group projects are included in several courses. Study groups of 3-5 students each will be established by the end of the first course, and each group will occasionally "meet" together (using "NetMeeting" and other technologies) to work on any assigned group project.
