About the Program

The Associate of Science with a major in Criminal Justice (ASJ) degree program is designed to prepare students for work in the fields of criminal justice and homeland security including law enforcement, court services, corrections, and other agencies. We are committed to developing students as whole people, keeping the spiritual, intellectual, social and physical facets of their lives in balance. Benefits of earning a degree in Criminal Justice include: helping you take that next step in your career by enhancing your knowledge of not only basic law enforcement principles, but also your understanding of criminal justice decision making from a Christian worldview, and learning how to help heal communities torn apart by crime. Graduates of the Associate of Science, Criminal Justice are eligible to pursue the Bachelor of Science, Criminal Justice degree program also offered through Indiana Wesleyan University.

The ASJ program consists of 62 credit hours of course work including both criminal justice and liberal arts curricula which must be completed at Indiana Wesleyan University. The courses in the program relate theory to practice. Instructional methods include lectures, seminars and workshop activities. Each class forms study groups to assist in the learning process. Most courses are three credit hours each. Each course is a required component of the program (core) and should be taken in sequence.
