Transfer Credit
Q: Why don't we accept transfer credit for core classes?
A: IWU has a generous transfer of credit policy for electives and will accept the majority of courses toward the student's degree as long as a C or better is earned and it is from a regionally accredited institution (even technical credits). However, the core constitutes the major that IWU is going to award the student and therefore meets the required residency requirement in order for IWU to be the degree-granting institution.

Weather
Q:Is class going to be canceled tonight (or on Saturday) because of weather?
A: Decisions are made for each locality that is affected by inclement weather through consultation between the Deans/Program Directors/Regional Officials. Class Representatives will be contacted between 3 & 4 pm regarding postponed evening classes.

NOTE: For Saturday classes, course facilitators, in consultation with the various regional officers and/or the program director, are responsible for making weather-related decisions in the context of ensuring the safety of students and faculty, and communicating those decisions in a timely way to the class members.

Withdrawal/Re-Enter Core
Q:How do I withdraw from an individual class or the whole core program (or re-enter a core)?
A: You must withdraw from a core (or re-enter a core) through the Withdrawal Specialist, ext. 2877 or 2911 (800-621-8667) in Student Services. For undergraduate electives, call ext. 2371 (800-621-8667). For Grad Ed electives, call ext. 2885 (800-621-8667). The Withdrawal Specialist will help you decide when to retake the course (temporary withdrawal), determine why you are withdrawing (permanent withdrawal), and notify all the pertinent IWU departments of the changes. If you do not withdraw before the end of class, an "F" will be issued, so it is important that this action take place properly. Your financial aid may be affected by making changes in your registration.
