is a celebration at Indiana Wesleyan University. It is a time
to recognize the academic achievement and commitment of each
student. Students, families, and friends are invited to the
Marion campus to share in this joyous event. |

When
is graduation?
APS graduation ceremonies are held three times a year. April,
August, and December. Potentially eligible students are notified by the Office of Student Services of procedures and requirements concerning graduation. The following are a list of the upcoming graduation ceremonies:
Graduation Date is August 9, 2008
10:00am for all Associate and Bachelor candidates
2:00pm for all Master candidates
Deadline for submitting application and ordering cap and gown is June 13, 2008
Tickets will be mailed around July 18th

Must all degree requirements
be met before participating in graduation?
Yes, all requirements including the core major and
electives, if required for your degree, must be met before you may
participate in a graduation ceremony. A completed "Application
for Graduation" is also required.

When will my degree be posted on my transcript?
Degrees are posted on the student's transcript the day the degree is conferred (actual graduation date).

Are tickets required for my guests to attend the graduation ceremony?
Yes, tickets are required for all guests who will be seated inside the Recreation and Wellness Center. The number of tickets issued to each student will be determined as soon as all of the graduation applications have been received in the Office of Student Services. Tickets will be mailed approximately three weeks prior to the ceremony.
Tickets will be mailed only to those who indicated that they are attending the ceremony. Students having extra tickets may give their extras to other students or return them to the Office of Student Services.
There will be unlimited overflow seating next door in the Phillippe Performing Arts Center Auditorium for those guests who do not have a ticket. An excellent live broadcast on a large movie screen is provided.

What
is the graduation application process?
Applications are sent to potential graduates approximately three months prior to their
scheduled graduation date. You must
complete and submit the application to receive your degree.

How do I order
my cap and gown?
When you receive your application for graduation,
you will receive in the same packet the order form for academic
attire, announcements, and name cards. Your last core payment includes
a graduation fee which pre-pays all commencement activities and
your academic attire . No additional fee is required unless you
wish to order announcements or name cards. Name cards and announcements
are not automatically provided. Everything is shipped to
you approximately one month prior to the graduation date.

How do I
qualify for honors?
Graduation honors are a recognition given to undergraduate
baccalaureate students at commencement to acknowledge outstanding grade point
averages earned. Eligibility for honors is determined as follows:
- A minimum of 80 graded hours from regionally accredited institutions
(also institutions accredited by the American Association of Bible
Colleges).
- A minimum of 40 graded hours must be from Indiana Wesleyan University.
- For transfer students, all graded hours transferred and transcribed
are counted.
- For students with transfer work, the GPA at Indiana Wesleyan
(that appears on the grade report) will be different from the
GPA from all institutions included in the honors calculation.
Baccalaureate degree candidates will be awarded honors
as follows:
- GPA of 3.5 or higher - "cum laude" (with honors)
- GPA of 3.7 or higher - "magna cum laude" (with high honors)
- GPA of 3.9 or higher - "summa cum laude" (with highest honors)

Is the
graduation facility accessible for special needs individuals?
Yes, every entrance is accessible. Please call Tammy Smith at 765-677-2763 or email tammy.smith@indwes.edu
if you will have a guest attending who has a special need. We reserve
floor space, including space for wheelchairs, for anyone who cannot
climb or sit in the bleachers. The east side gymnasium door is the
most easily accessible and has reserved parking. Our ushers will
escort your guest to the reserved area. A wheel chair will be available
at the door and can be used to transport your guest to a chair.
Please let us know, also, if your guest needs a chair other than
a folding chair. We can provide padded arm chairs if requested in
advance.
